House of Night

Exonerated by the Vampyre High Council and returned to her position of High Priestess at Tulsa’s House of Night, Neferet has sworn vengeance on Zoey. Dominion over her immortal consort Kalona is only one of the weapons she plans to use against Z. But Zoey has found sanctuary on the Isle of Skye and is being groomed by Queen Sgiach to take over for her there. Being Queen would be cool, wouldn’t it? Why should she return to Tulsa? After losing her human consort, Heath, she will never be the same – and her relationship with her super-hot-warrior, Stark, may never be the same either…

And what about Stevie Rae and Rephaim? The Raven Mocker refuses to be used against Stevie Rae, but what choice does he have when no one in the entire world, including Zoey, would be okay with their relationship? Does he betray his father or his heart?

In the pulse-pounding 8th book in the bestselling House of Night series, how far will the bonds of friendship stretch and how strong are the ties that bind one girl’s heart?

Another great addition to an amazing series, and another series that I love to re-read.  Zoey has returned from her soul being shattered, and her and Stark start up their relationship and it makes me happy.  Stevie Rae has fallen in love and has a ton of choices to make and, Neferet is as naughty and over confident as always.  I actually cried when one of the characters died cause I loved the way this character was, so open and free and happy. (I don't really want to give away anything)

The relationship with Stevie Rae and Rephaim is amazing.  I feel like I can connect with her and her decisions because she seems more real to me.  We all have to make choices everyday for good and evil, and seeing that she knows what true evil is, and has experienced it makes it easier to see the good in people even if that person cannot see it in themselves.

Aphrodite especially has changed.  Her ability to know her strengths and weaknesses and deal daily with her choices, and to just plain say what needs to be said in her own way is great.

It is great to see all the characters change and grow together and apart.  To see them able to believe in themselves and their goddess, making me wish it was more prevalent in today's society.

Glory St. Clair is a vampire with problems. First there's her on-again, off-again lover Jeremy Blade, back in town and expecting her to fall into his arms again. Doesn't he remember that they have issues? And what about smoking hot rock star Israel Caine? He's back, too, and sinking his fangs into someone else.Glory told him to move on, but did she have to be so thin? At least Valdez is still loyal. But her former bodyguard is no longer dogging her. Instead, he's now a hunky guy determined to share her apartment and maybe something more. So much man-candy is enough to make even a gal with a liquid diet feel a sugar rush.

No time to enjoy it though, with a pair of hunters playing beat the clock as they try to win the fortune a techno-freak billionaire left behind. The stakes are high and Glory's the prize in this vamp hunting contest. Dodging arrows and arranging a bachelorette party for her BFF may just prove to be too much for even this clever vamp who has more to love…

Well, this is another great book in a great series.  Glory has decided to become a woman fully on her own, which means no more accepting Jerry's bodyguard.  But that doesn't mean Valdez leaves.  Nope.  Valdez, now in he very hot human....well, human like form  moves in with Glory to try to win her from Jerry.  Ray also shows up again in this book and her life gets even more complicated with a blast from the past, and being possessed doesn't help either.

Personally, I understand the connection between Jerry and Glory, and how much he loves her, but I'm not sure I want her to end up with him.  She has many options, and personally I'm voting for Ray, (I do love a good rock star...;)but Valdez is quite the catch too.. ) Glory is in quite a few tight spots in this book, but manages to come out ahead again.  But nothing can stop Glory from throwing the best bachelorette party for her BFF Flo, even hellfire flashes, blackmail, or man trouble.

I can't wait to read the next installment of Glory St. Clair.  Gerry Bartlett hits another home run with this book and her curvy heroine here.  Gerry brings amazing human aspect to a non-human world!

Last Sacrifice (2010)
(The sixth book in the Vampire Academy series)
A novel by Richelle Mead

The astonishing final novel in Richelle Mead's epic series!

Murder. Love. Jealousy. And the ultimate sacrifice. Now, with Rose on trial for her life and Lissa first in line for the Royal Throne, nothing will ever be the same between them.

Well, I was up most of the night reading.  Knowing this is the last book featuring Rose and Lissa as the main characters made it impossible to put down.  Rose was typical impulsive Rose, but made great leaps in growing up.  Since I don't want to spoil anything, I will just say that I am excited about some of  the relationships at the end of the book, especially Rose's.  Over all, it was a good ending to the Rose/Lissa story.  I'm sure they will turn  up in later VA books though so we will still be able to keep up with them.

This book has a ton of action and a lot of surprising twists and turns.  I was a bit surprised at the revelation of the villian, but after finding out who it was, it made a lot of sense.  Richelle Mead has outdone herself with with one.  Her originality shines with the whole series, and the layers of plots she created.  The depth of the characters she creates, each with their own quirks and personalities makes this series one of the must read and re-readable series out there.

I am defiantly looking forward to the next installment of her work.  From what I understand, there will be more books in the series, but with different main characters, like Sydney.  I can't wait to see what Abe is holding over Sydney!

The New VA Series
Last Sacrifice
will be the last book about Rose, but it'll be followed by a spin-off series still set in the Vampire Academy world.  Side characters we know from the current series will now be our main characters, and there'll be a whole new storyline (not the last one told from a different perspective).  So far, there is no exact release date, but you can expect it near late summer/early fall of 2011.
At the moment, I'm not allowed to reveal the title, premise, or full cast of characters. I can tell you that it'll be written in third person, so we'll get a number of characters' perspectives. One of them will be Sydney. The others are a secret for now. Also, expect a cameo from Rose. :)
